About the festival

Harvey's Scarecrow Trail

Every October since 2012, over 100 scarecrows invade the Chew Valley to create a mammoth game of hide and seek – The Harvey Scarecrow Trail.

Each scarecrow is designed and built by heroic residents and businesses, all coming together in memory of a little boy Harvey Hext and his brave fight against cancer.

Harvey’s scarecrows are displayed in businesses, schools, gardens and fields for anyone to find. The individual who spots and correctly names the most scarecrows wins a fabulous prize and is crowned “Scarecrow Super Sleuth!”

To locate all these incredible creations, you can purchase a trail map from local shops for a £3 donation. The Harvey scarecrows are Harvey’s legacy and now, via his charity A Sibling’s Wish, help fundraise for bereaved children all over the UK.

For 2019 Harvey’s Scarecrows donations will provide schools across North Somerset and BANES with bereavement support packs. The pack includes 6 books covering everything from the loss of a pet to the loss of a family Member, plus a book on anxiety and workbooks to help adults and children engage in conversation.
